Solidworks,Pro-E and Catia models into Navisworks
Many of our Navisworks customers have asked us what the best way to read in data from the common mechanical CAD solutions especially Catia, SolidWorks and Pro-Engineer. There are currently no direct readers for these formats and so they are forced to use neutral file formats such as IGES, STEP or VRML which may not give a full representation of the model objects or property information.
The best solution that we have found is to use Autodesk Inventor in conjunction with Navisworks. Autodesk Inventor is able to read native Catia, SolidWorks and Pro-Engineer data which can then read directly into Navisworks and aggregated as required with any other Navisworks information.
